The Studio

Studio Manali is a working studio–atelier based in the Himalayan valley of Manali.

Founded by Anil Shawn Lewis, the studio is built around sustained making and material-led creations. Work at the studio spans painting, mural work, woodcraft, and site-based interventions.

The studio’s output emerges from an unyielding urge to make, create and repeat. Landscape, architecture, weather, flora, local histories, and everyday stories inform the work.

The work exists through daily practice.

Studio Manali functions as both a workspace and a place of learning. It hosts Ateliers, Work Exchange Apprenticeship opportunities, and residency-based programs centred on drawing, painting, mural practice, natural materials, and landscape studies.

A small collection of original works is maintained at the studio, including prints, paintings, miniatures, and handmade wooden objects. Each piece is produced with disciplined craftsmanship, careful material choices, and respect for process.

The Studio is open to visitors by prior confirmation, Tuesdays to Saturday from 12:30pm to 4:30pm.

Patrons are requested to book a slot in advance.
